Samuel L. Jackson Explores Cold Space With BOOM!
Samuel L. Jackson. The very name conjures an image of cinematic cool. Pulp Fiction. Die Hard with a Vengeance. Unbreakable. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Snakes on a Plane. Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Having conquered the worlds of film and becoming one of the highest-grossing actors of all time, this week Jackson launches his assault on the world of comics with Cold Space #1.

Cold Space follows the adventures of Mullbery, an on-the-run outlaw as he crashlands on a hostile planet that is on the brink of civil war. Finding him in the crossfire between two warring factions, Mullbery realizes that in chaos lies opportunity — because where there’s war, there’s money to be made.
Said Jackson of Cold Space: "I'm a long time comic reader and big fan of many genres in graphic novels and manga — from crime thrillers, westerns, and super-hero books, to samurai dramas, science fiction and horror. So I actually do read the stuff — and lots of it. Now's my chance to put my stamp on the medium with something new, but with a classic taste of the stuff I already like."

Jackson teams up with Emmy-nominated writer/producer Eric Calderon, his collaborator on the Emmy award-winning Afro Samurai, to deliver their original comic book series. A hard-boiled sci-fi action-adventure with covers by Eisner Award-winner Dave Johnson and Irredeemable cover artist Jeffrey Spokes, Cold Space is certain to be one of this week's most talked-about comics.

Deceit Endangers Innocents in Dark Horse’s Star Wars: Dark Times #16
Former Jedi Dass Jennir becomes entangled in the web of lies he’s spun to bring down two opposing gangs in Star Wars: Dark Times #16 -- Blue Harvest, Part 4, the penultimate chapter of Dark Horse Comics’ five-part limited series.

The period of Star Wars history encompassing the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire has always fascinated the franchise’s millions of fans, and Blue Harvest has earned its place alongside readers’ favorite stories. Dark Horse’s collection of the adventure’s online chapters in Blue Harvest #0 effectively tantalized readers with a preface to this epic, and consumer interest has remained high throughout this arc’s run.  In the newest chapter written by Mick Harrison and illustrated by Douglas Wheatley & Dave McCaig, Jennir’s complex plan may propel the opposing gangs into a war – one which may demolish the town he wanted to save. That is, the gangs may destroy the town after they destroy him in this 40-page, full-color issue with a cover by Wheatley & Dustin Weaver.
